Silent sitting practice followed by metta prayers (an extension of compassion to all beings) as practiced in the Southeast Asian Theravada tradition.
TIBETAN VAJRAYANA PRACTICE
Vajrayana practitioners are focusing on the practice of Vajrasatva. This is a practice for the purification of mind, body and energy through the use of the powerful Vajrasatva Mantra visualization and meditation.Vajrasatva is a manifestation of an enlightened being and His mantra is the essential
sound of his enlightened nature. Regular practice is highly recommended for all Vajrayana practitioners, new and long term.
ZEN MEDITATION
Every Saturday morning at the Dharma Center participate in zazen and kinhin (sitting and walking), and Zen service from 7:30-9:30am. Contact Donna Denman at 767-7877 for more information. Also, please read the article, Our Zen Ancestors, for more information about Zen practice at the Dharma Center.
ORIENTATION
This is a good place to start. Orientation to the center and introduction to mindfulness meditation, the most universal Buddhist practice.
EVENING MEDITATION
The core practice time, open for silent meditation practice. Sitting begins promptly at seven every day except Saturday, please arrive five minutes early.
MORNING MEDITATION
The format for these morning sittings is the same as the evening sittings, being open to all practitioners. If you are first to arrive in the morning, please light the candle and ring the bell.
The Dharma Center is open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM everyday. It may be locked during night hours.
Silence isn't guaranteed during non-meditation hours.
The Center is also home for our residents. Please respect their privacy.
Except for meditation times, the Center will be locked during college breaks if no residents are present.
